Ceramic webbing tape is a high-performance, flexible, woven insulation material made from high-purity alumina-silicate ceramic fibers designed for extreme high-temperature applications, often as an asbestos-free alternative. It is known for its exceptional heat resistance, low thermal conductivity, and chemical stability. Key Properties & Features
- Material Composition: Primarily composed of ceramic fibers, blended from high-purity alumina and silica. A small percentage of organic carrier fiber is used in manufacturing to aid processing and burns off during initial high-temperature exposure. It is typically reinforced with either a glass filament or stainless steel (or nickel-chrome) wire to enhance tensile strength and durability at high temperatures.
- Temperature Resistance: It can withstand continuous operating temperatures up to approximately 1260°C (2300°F), with a melting point of around 1760°C (3200°F). The reinforcement type can affect the maximum effective temperature rating (glass reinforcement up to 550°C, wire up to 1000°C).
